CUL- DE- SAC, May 3, 2025: It is all for the four teams to play for, as they bid to be crowned winners of the Women’s segment of the 2025 Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Senior Beach Volleyball Championship here at the Cul- de- Sac Bay.
This after they forged triumphs on day two, getting past their opponents in the quarter finals.
As such, the St Kitts and Nevis outfit of Shajunee Gumbs/ Shanicia Dyer beat St Lucia Team One, comprising Denila Prospere/ Chenoa Evans 2-1(13-21, 21-19, 15-10)
Also advancing to the last four was Grenada Team One of Thornia Mitchell/ Renisha Stafford, who overcame Antigua and Barbuda’s Jassania Joseph/ Dana Regis, 2-0(21-15, 21-18)
Joining them was the Bermuda pair of Hailey Moss/ Megan Hands, who stopped Dominica’s Joyan Pascal/ Zahidu Henry 2-0(21-18, 21-13).
And St Lucia’s Team Three of Clio Phillip/ Tenayestlni Joseph ousted the St Lucia Team Four of Kerin Neptune/ Ericka Gaspard, 2-1(6-21, 21-12, 15-13).
Thus, the semi-finals pit Gumbs/ Dyer versus Phillip/ Joseph and Mitchell/ Stafford against Moss/ Hands.
Looking ahead of the semifinals, the teams commented.
Gumbs: “We are really excited to be in the semi-finals and showcase our talents and represent as best as we can.”
Mitchell: “Our intention is to retain the title; that is the motive for coming here and that is what exactly we are going to do.”
Joseph: “It is bitter – sweet to beat our fellow St Lucians. We have to represent, because we are the only team in the women’s category to have a chance at the title.”
Moss: “We are glad the way we have progressed throughout the tournament, and we are happy to play in the semi-finals.”
