Chesley Augustine has been a driving force in volleyball since beginning her playing career in 2009. She rose through the ranks at the high-school level, competing from 2010 to 2011, where she earned Most Valuable Player (MVP) honors during her years of play. Her talent and commitment led to her national debut in 2012 in St. Kitts, where she represented Sint Maarten as an outside hitter.
Augustine continued to represent Sint Maarten internationally over the years, competing in national matches between 2014 and 2024. Her final appearance on the national team saw her serving as team captain, marking a fitting conclusion to a distinguished playing career. Locally, she has captured multiple championships and was again named MVP in 2016, cementing her impact on the sport.
Beyond playing, Augustine transitioned into officiating, making her national refereeing debut in 2022 in Antigua, where she was selected as second referee for the men’s senior gold medal match. In 2024, she made history alongside Monique, becoming part of the first all-female referee duo to officiate a men’s senior gold medal match. She further expanded her officiating career in 2025, becoming a national beach volleyball referee and serving as second referee for the U23 women’s beach gold medal match in St. Kitts. She aspires to one day officiate at the international level in either indoor or beach volleyball.
Augustine began her coaching career in 2020, earning her Level 1 certification in 2021, Level 2 in 2022, and achieving the prestigious FIVB Level 3 coaching certification in 2025 in Montenegro—making her the first female, and possibly the only individual, from Sint Maarten to attain this qualification. She also served as a coach for the Sint Maarten U23 men’s team at the 2023 tournament in the British Virgin Islands.
Her leadership extends into administration, having joined the volleyball board in 2016, serving as Treasurer from 2018 to 2025, and being appointed President in 2026. She was also selected and approved as a member of the ECVA Finance Commission.
Professionally, Augustine is a Finance Manager at the government-owned company TELEM, where she was appointed at the age of 28, becoming the youngest manager in the company. She has worked in finance since 2014, became an ACCA member in 2025, and is currently completing her MBA—balancing excellence in both sport and professional leadership.
