
Mark Kontopoulos is an FIVB Instructor and international coach educator with more than 25 years of coaching experience across both beach volleyball and volleyball. He has worked with athletes and coaches at all levels of the game, from grassroots participation through to elite competition.
Having delivered coach education programmes internationally, Mark has worked with coaches from across the world through a wide range of FIVB, CEV, national federation and independent coaching initiatives. In addition to his international work, he is a Volleyball England Coaching Tutor and is known for his practical, athlete-centred approach and the application of modern coaching methodologies.
Alongside his work as a coach educator, he is an experienced coach at both youth and senior levels and currently serves as President of the British Volleyball Federation. He also provides advisory support on coach education and development projects for both the FIVB and CEV and has held senior roles at major international sporting events, including the Olympic Games and numerous FIVB and CEV competitions.
He is the Co-Founder and CEO of SideOut, one of the UK's leading organisations for volleyball and beach volleyball coaching, coach education and event management. As SideOut’s Head Coach, he oversees both its volleyball and beach volleyball programmes.
Mark is passionate about sharing knowledge, supporting coaches on their development journey and helping volleyball communities grow through connection, collaboration and a love of the game.
