From Island Dreams to Championship Teams

From Island Dreams to Championship Teams
Today, Davenport, Iowa witnessed energy at the Fighting Bee Invitational at Blackhawk College, as four former ECVA standouts turned the court into a Caribbean showdown on U.S. soil.
Saint Kitts, Nage Hendrickson and Zendai Richards of Cumberland University stepped onto the court with confidence, facing off against their fellow islanders Saint Lucian Rio Victor and Dominican Bill Clarke-Fredrick from Culver-Stockton College. All four once battled it out in the ECVA arena — now, they’re making waves in the U.S. college game.
Cumberland came out firing, taking the match in three dominant sets. Zendai was unstoppable, racking up 14 kills and 5 digs, while Nage added 3 powerful kills to the scoreboard; Rio had 8 kills and 6 digs and Bill had 1 kill. But beyond the stats, it was a celebration of growth, resilience, and the power of opportunity.
From the sun-soaked courts of the Eastern Caribbean to the high-level intensity of U.S. college volleyball, these athletes are living proof that the ECVA isn’t just a tournament — it’s a launchpad.
Four islands. One dream. Endless potential.
