Ericka discovered her passion for volleyball later than most athletes, beginning her journey at the age of 26. Despite starting later in life, she quickly embraced the sport and joined her first team, No Limit. Playing primarily as an outside attacker and opposite attacker, Ericka brought determination and energy to the court, developing her skills while contributing to her team’s dynamic play.
Volleyball soon became much more than just a sport for Ericka. It provided her with a strong sense of belonging and community. Through the challenges of training, competition, and teamwork, she experienced significant personal growth. The game helped strengthen her self-confidence, improved her mental health, and taught her the value of perseverance both on and off the court.
Beyond the physical aspects of the sport, volleyball also allowed Ericka to build meaningful and lasting relationships with teammates and others in the volleyball community. What began as a new activity at 26 evolved into a powerful and positive force in her life, shaping her character and reinforcing the importance of resilience, connection, and passion. Due to her positive attitude, Ericka was entrusted to take on the role of Competition Leader during SEVA’s 2025 Championships.
The transition from player to competition leader has proved to be anything but difficult for her. She stated that with the same skills you apply on the court, you apply as Competition Leader. Communication, strategic thinking, and coordination.

She attributes much of her development to her mentor and lifelong coach, Glenn Quinlan, whose belief and guidance shaped her on and off the court. She remains dedicated to fostering the next generation of players and serving her sport at every level.

Glenn Quinlan, GQ or Mr President as he is affectionately known, is a legend in the sport of volleyball not only in his native St Kitts and Nevis but across the volleyball community in the Caribbean.
He has served with distinction as Player, Coach and Administrator, sometimes doing all three at the same time!
Glenn was initiated into volleyball at the College of the Virgin Islands (now the University of the Virgin Islands) when he attended that institution from 1979. Prior to this, Glenn’s passion was basketball, representing St Kitts and Nevis at regional tournaments. Coach Blake from CVI had a profound impact on Glenn which shaped his enthusiasm and strategic outlook for the sport.
Glenn represented St Kitts and Nevis in volleyball as a player from 1984 to 2005, He was also selected as part of an All-Star OECS team that played against the Barbados National Team in Barbados.
Glenn has been a successful coach at the club level in St Kitts as well as at the regional level. He guided the St Kitts and Nevis national senior women’s team to three OECS gold medals, in St Kitts in 1991, Grenada 1992 and in Anguilla in 2004.
Glenn assumed the Presidency of the SKAVA in 1995 and has ensured that the national flag has been represented in regional tournaments and board rooms. Notwithstanding the limited resources available, the sport has provided numerous opportunities for young athletes, male and female, to obtain a college education while playing volleyball overseas.
Glenn has also made a sterling contribution in the administrative field at the regional and international levels: President of ECVA from 2007, Executive Vice President of NORCECA from 2008 and ultimately all the way up to the world body, as Member of the FIVB Board of Administration since 2016. Through these institutions he has been able to mobilise significant resources for the smaller National Federations by way of coaches, playing courts, equipment and training for local coaches, referees and scorers.
Of recent vintage, Glenn was instrumental in securing resources to host several youth beach tournaments for the smaller National Federations across the Caribbean, to develop their talent. Glenn’s only elusive goal so far, has been the absence of a dedicated facility for volleyball in his native land.
NORCECA commissions are specialized, expert-driven bodies under the Board of Administration that manage, develop, and promote volleyball and beach volleyball across North, Central America, and the Caribbean. Comprised of representatives from member nations, these 11+ commissions (including Athletes, Coaches, Medical, Refereeing, and Press) enhance governance, operational efficiency, and event organization.
They operate under the Board of Administration to implement strategic goals, ensure compliance with FIVB rules, and foster technical advancements in the region.

A Michael Peters Story: From Boardroom to Beach/Court 🏐🇸🇽
In a world that often separates business from community, Michael Peters stands as a powerful example of how leadership, service, and passion can intersect to build something greater than oneself.
When Michael Peters was appointed to the position of Operations Director at Princess Juliana International Airport, he knew he was stepping into more than just a prestigious position. He was accepting a responsibility—to serve Sint Maarten not only economically, but socially and culturally.
With a background rooted in strategic planning and operational excellence, Michael could have remained within the comfort of corporate circles. But his vision extended beyond the runway. He saw the potential in sports—particularly volleyball—as a vehicle for unity, youth empowerment, and national pride.
Though he had never played volleyball himself, Michael didn’t let that stop him from becoming a champion for the sport. When the opportunity arose to join the Sint Maarteen Volleyball Association, as a director, he didn’t hesitate.
“Anything for the development of sports—especially our country, Sint Maarten. I see it as an opportunity to give back to the community in whatever shape or form,” Michael shared.
His words echo a truth many forget: You don’t have to be an athlete to make a difference in sports.
Michael's involvement will bring a fresh wave of energy to the association. His corporate expertise will help streamline operations, improve outreach, and strengthen partnerships across the island. More than that, his presence will inspire others in the professional world to see sports as a worthy investment—not just in infrastructure, but in people.
Bill Frederick was first introduced to volleyball at the Isaiah Thomas Secondary School. Although it didn't immediately show rise to the top, his determination and love for the sport were undeniably.
He represented the school at various secondary school competitions, finishing in 2nd place at the 2022 competition which also happened to be his last year of high school.

Around that time, he also started representing the Club One Volleyball Club in the National Volleyball League, being part of back-to-back league winning squads.
His hard work and love for volleyball caught the eye of the National team coaches, leading to his selection to represent Dominica in both beach and indoor volleyball. Bill, and his partner Mervin Mingo were permanent fixtures on the podium at the ECVA Junior beach tournaments, finishing 3rd in 2023 and 1st in 2024 and 2025. He has also participated in the ECVA senior beach championships and the NORCECA continental tour.
Bill has also seen success in indoor volleyball, placing 3rd in the 2023 ECVA U23 indoor tournament and 2nd in the 2024 senior champions.
