
Brandon Sousa currently serves as the Co-President of the Bermuda Volleyball Association (BVA). Brandon also serves on the Executive Board of the Bermuda Olympic Association (BOA) as the 2nd Vice President. He brings a strong blend of athletic experience, administrative leadership, and a deep commitment to the advancement of sport in Bermuda.
Brandon’s journey began as a junior athlete, participating in various national sport programs before dedicating himself to volleyball. He has represented Bermuda internationally for more than a decade, beginning with the Bermuda Indoor Volleyball National Team in 2008, the Men’s National Team in 2012, and later the Beach Volleyball National Team, where he helped lead Bermuda onto the international beach volleyball stage in 2022.
His transition into sports administration began in 2020, when he joined the BVA Executive Board as Youth Development Officer. In this role, he focused on expanding youth participation, strengthening athlete development pathways, and improving engagement with the sport. In 2023, he was elected Co-President of the BVA, where he now oversees recreational programs, youth development, and national teams. His leadership has supported continued participation in regional and international events through ECVA, NORCECA, and the FIVB, as well as BVA’s participation at various multi-sport events, such as the CAC Games and Youth Commonwealth Games.
Brandon is deeply committed to promoting Olympism in Bermuda. His participation in the 2025 Youth Olympic Ambassador Program at the International Olympic Academy strengthened his dedication to the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship, and Respect. Brandon is a member of the Bermuda Olympic Association’s Olympic Values Committee.
Brandon’s experience as both an elite athlete and a senior administrator directly displays his mission of advancing high-performance sport in Bermuda. By successfully navigating this transition, he aims to encourage and support other athletes seeking to transfer their skills into administrative roles. His work at the BVA showcases his ability to promote, develop, and govern a sport with integrity and long-term vision. He understands the operational needs of National Sport Federations, appreciates the challenges faced by athletes, and values the importance of strong administrative structures to support international success.
