Jassania Joseph is a proud graduate of Princess Margaret Secondary School, where she first discovered her passion for volleyball. Drawn to the sport’s competitiveness and strong sense of teamwork, what began as a school interest quickly evolved into a life-defining journey. That passion has since propelled her to represent Antigua and Barbuda as a national volleyball athlete and earned her an athletic scholarship to York University in Nebraska with the assistance from the office of the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, where she is currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration.
Looking ahead, Jassania’s goals are clear: to continue competing at a high level in collegiate volleyball while working toward playing professionally. Volleyball has shaped her character, teaching her the importance of seizing every opportunity, pushing through challenges, and trusting the process. She embraces every experience along her journey, knowing each one has contributed to who she is today.
As a member of the Antigua and Barbuda Amateur Volleyball Association (ABAVA), Jassania has represented several local clubs, including Starz, Royal Cruisers, and most recently Da Squad Volleyball Club. She has also proudly represented Antigua and Barbuda in numerous regional competitions, including the 2022 and 2024 ECVA Senior Women’s Volleyball Championships, the 2023 ECVA U23 Women’s Volleyball Championship, and multiple ECVA Beach Volleyball Championships at both the senior and U23 levels.
Her excellence on the court has earned her multiple individual accolades, including Best Server, Best Spiker, and Best Scorer at the ECVA U23 Women’s Championship in Dominica. In beach volleyball, she and her partner placed second at the 2023 U23 Beach Volleyball Qualifier in St. Kitts, moved to fourth in 2024, and returned to second place in 2025. The 2025 result qualified them for the U23 World Championship Qualifiers in Juan Dolio, Dominican Republic, in July.
In 2025, Jassania continued to build an impressive résumé. Between March and June, she captured first place in the ABAVA Local Club League with Da Squad Volleyball Club. She then competed in the ECVA Under-21 Tournament in St. Kitts, where her team finished second overall among 14 countries, securing qualification for the World Qualifier Cup in the Dominican Republic. She also represented Antigua and Barbuda at the ECVA Senior Tournament in St. Lucia and later at the U21 NORCECA BEACH World Qualifier, finishing 11th out of 15 nations while gaining valuable international experience.
At the collegiate level, Jassania continued to shine during the NAIA and KCAC volleyball season, helping her team finish 10th out of 15 teams and earning two Player of the Game awards, a reflection of her consistency, leadership, and competitive drive.
Her dedication has not gone unnoticed. Jassania was nominated Junior Sportswoman of the Year in 2023 and 2024, and Senior Sportswoman of the Year in 2025, recognizing her sustained excellence and impact on volleyball in Antigua and Barbuda.
Beyond competition, Jassania is committed to being a positive role model for young athletes and contributing to the growth of sports tourism in her country. Her message to upcoming athletes is simple but powerful: work relentlessly at your craft—how you treat your sport will define how far it takes you.
