St. Lucia claims consolation win over Antigua and Barbuda

ROAD TOWN, Tortola: St. Lucia cruised past Antigua and Barbuda in a consolation pool B match-up, in match 20 of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) U23 Male Championship. Both teams did not advance out of pool play; St. Lucia won two matches and lost two, while Antigua and Barbuda was winless. The final scores were 25-8, 25-15, 25-8.

Top scorer of the match was St. Lucia’s outside hitter Fabio Lamontagne. He dominated with his spikes and accumulated 13 points. Antigua’s Khaliq Joseph was the only player on his team who troubled the other side. He had 3 points.

Both coaches, Terry of St. Lucia and Michael Hamilton of Antigua and Barbuda, spoke of using the tournament as a platform the continued development of youths in the respective volleyball programs.

In tomorrow’s first semifinal, Dominica come up against St. Vincent and the Grenadines at 9.a.m, and St. Kitts and Nevis engage St. Maarten at 11 a.m. The final takes place later in the evening at 8 p.m. The bronze medal match will be at 6 p.m.
