BASSETTERE: St Kitts and Nevis, Aug. 31, 2024: Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, along with Grenada and St Kitts and Nevis Team One advanced to the semi-finals of Men’s Segment of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association (ECVA) Under-21 Championships here at the Marriot Beach.
The four thus maintained an unblemished record, after successfully navigating pool play and their quarter-final battles.
Dominica’s Bill Frederick/ Mervin Mingo had an easy passage to the semi-final, as St Vincent and the Grenadines was unable to take the court, forfeiting the match because of shoulder injury to Damari Frederick
Antigua and Barbuda’s Khaliq Joseph and Miguel Lugo overcame Bermuda’s Miley Morbey and Riley Rodriques, 2-0 (21-10, 21-13), with the Grenadian pair of Kibose Hamilton and Zerick Walcott defeated the British Virgin Island’s Jason Dunkley Maduro and Alexander Wheatley, 2-0(21-8, 21-11).
And, St Kitts and Nevis Team One of Julian Bristol and Vickash Sundar advanced over their fellow Kittians, Jedediah Pencheon and Komarr Fraites, forming Team Two, 2-0 (24-22, 21-13).
The semifinal match ups on Day Three, thus feature Bristol/ Sundar versus Hamilton/ Walcott and Joseph/ Lugo against Frederick/ Mingo.
The semi-finals winners meet in the title match, whilst the losers play for bronze.
