ROSEAU, DOMINICA: Dominica took charge of Pool B of the Eastern Caribbean Volleyball Association( ECVA) Under-23 Women’s Championships, here at the Massacre Indoor Facility, with a commanding 3-0( 23-25, 25-9, 25-11, 25-9 ) over Grenada.
For Dominica, it was a commanding display on the court, as they had the crowd support to add impetus. Dominica’s Captain -Shakira Sorhaindo said at the end of match, “ We are here to prove a point… We have a lot in us and we want to show it in front our home crowd”. Sorhaindo also lauded the Dominican supporters who showed up, stating, “ They helped to do some of the stuff we did on the court tonight”. Shakira Collymore, Head Coach of Grenada although disappointed with the loss, thought her players were up against it as their opportunities were charged up by the home support. We started off well, but we had a lot of errors, including our passing and Dominica capitalized on it…They basically blocked everything and when we overpassed, they penalized us… Also, when we defended, Dominica was hustling us”, Collymore recounted. Match nine is next, between Saba and St Vincent and the Grenadines. |
