TORTOLA, BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS – August 13, 2026 – The 2026 Eastern Caribbean Senior Men & Women Volleyball Championships officially opened last evening in Tortola, British Virgin Islands, launching five days of regional volleyball competition running from August 12 to 16, 2026.
The Opening Ceremony began with the territorial song, performed by Andre Braithwaite, followed by the opening prayer, delivered by the Honourable Mitch Turnbull.
Virgin Islands Volleyball Association (VIVA) President Stephen Payne delivered the welcome message, followed by remarks from Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley, President of the BVI Olympic Committee Ephraim Penn and Minister of Education, Youth Affairs & Sports Sharie Decastro.
The evening's proceedings concluded with the Minister of Education, Youth Affairs & Sports officially declaring the tournament open.
The championship brings together senior men's and women's national teams from across the Eastern Caribbean to compete in Tortola through August 16.
